Understanding Perry County Released Inmates
A Perry County Prison custody entry ends when the prison records an event, but “release” is not one uniform outcome. A person may leave for the community after bail, a court order, time served, county parole, or sentence expiration. Someone else may leave New Bloomfield for a state prison, another county, a hospital, federal custody, or immigration custody. Only the first group has necessarily returned to the community. The release record must name the custodian, event, time, authority, and next destination before that distinction is sound.
Perry County publishes no live prison roster or former-inmate archive. A released person therefore cannot be found by watching a county profile change. PA SAVIN can report a custody event, the Unified Judicial System docket can explain the legal act, and the prison can confirm its own event subject to disclosure limits. For state sentences, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections locator serves a different role. Each source answers only the part of the release that it actually records.
- Parole
- Conditional community release while a sentence continues under supervision.
- Probation
- A court sentence served under community rules, either instead of or after confinement.
- Discharge
- The end of the sentence or supervision obligation governed by the relevant order.
- Time served
- Credit or a sentence term that may end one case, while another hold can still remain.
Perry County Inmate Release Types
The wording of a Perry County release matters. Bail permits a pretrial defendant to leave under court conditions, but it does not dismiss the charges. County parole permits release before the county maximum while the sentencing court retains authority. A state parole grant can precede the physical exit while PADOC completes a release plan and other processing. Dismissal or acquittal is a court result, yet another docket or detainer can still prevent a person from leaving custody.
| Recorded event | What it means | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bail or recognizance | Pretrial release under court terms | UJS bail entries plus prison confirmation |
| Time served or expiration | Custodial term ended for that case | Sentencing order and release event |
| County parole or probation | Community supervision under the county court | Perry County Probation and UJS |
| State parole | Release from an SCI while the state sentence continues | PADOC locator and Board Action |
| Transfer | Movement to another custodian, not community release | Receiving agency, docket, and PA SAVIN |
| Discharge | The relevant sentence or supervision obligation ended | Custodian record or court order |
Escape and death can also terminate a custody entry, but neither should be labeled an ordinary release. When records disagree, arrange the dated events in order: admission, court authority, transfer or physical exit, and supervision. That timeline prevents a status from one agency from being mistaken for a different agency’s final result.
Perry County Release Record Fields
Pennsylvania does not use one standard public “release record.” Perry County release proof can be spread across a prison event, a commitment or release order, bail entries, a sentence order, a transport record, and a supervision file. A narrow request should seek existing fields rather than ask county staff to write a new account. The key is to tie one person, one booking, and one custody transition together.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Full name and stable identifier | Which person the event concerns |
| Booking or admission number | The specific stay in Perry County custody |
| Admission date and time | When that custody episode began |
| Release date and time | When Perry’s custody event ended |
| Release type or authority | Bail, order, time served, parole, expiration, or another basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Community return versus transfer |
| Court or docket number | The legal file linked to the event |
The county prison page does not publish its database schema or a web-retention period. Do not substitute fields copied from another county’s vendor. A UJS docket is the lasting legal companion because it can show bail, disposition, sentencing, and orders after a custody display disappears. It is not a real-time physical-custody system, so the jail event or PA SAVIN signal still supplies the operational half.
Request Perry County Release Records
The county’s Open Records Policy and request form provide the route for executive-agency prison records. A written request protects appeal rights and can be sent by mail, email, or fax. Ask for an existing electronic record in native form when feasible. Include a date range and docket or date of birth only when needed to separate people with the same name.
- Identify the person, approximate booking range, and Perry County case or docket when known.
- Request the admission and release timestamps, recorded type or authority, destination or receiving agency, and booking photograph if maintained.
- Ask for segregable nonexempt parts electronically and request the legal basis for any withheld portion.
- Send the current county form to the listed Right-to-Know officer and retain the submission and response.
- Use the Clerk of Courts, not the general county officer, for the criminal docket or operative court order.

Under 65 P.S. § 67.901, an agency generally responds within five business days. A qualifying extension under § 902 is usually up to thirty calendar days unless the requester agrees otherwise. The state fee schedule permits specified copy and postage charges, while electronic delivery and redaction generally do not add a separate charge. Check the live schedule when filing because fee rules can change.
Perry County Courts Explain Release
Perry County’s three Magisterial District Judges set bail and conduct preliminary hearings. The Common Pleas Clerk of Courts then maintains criminal filings that include commitments, bail, bench warrants, motions, and appeals. That local split gives released-inmate research a precise route. First read the UJS Case Search docket, then ask the office that holds the controlling order when the public entry is incomplete.
Search participant records with Perry selected as the county. Compare the docket number, case date, middle name, age, or another public identifier before accepting a match. Review bail, chronological entries, disposition, sentence, and later orders. A bail posting can explain authority but not prove the prison completed every warrant and detainer check. Likewise, a PA SAVIN “out of custody” result does not identify the legal reason. Use both when possible.
The UJS help material warns that recent entries can lag and that public records can contain omissions. Court search also excludes protected matters. A negative result should therefore be described only as no matching public result under the search used.
Older Perry County Release Records
Clean Slate, limited access, expungement, and the judicial retention schedule can make an older docket unavailable even though a Perry County custody event once occurred. 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91 separates expungement from limited access and sets eligibility rules with exclusions. Current § 9122.2 uses a seven-year framework for certain qualifying matters and includes conditions tied to restitution. It does not mean every older record disappears.
A public no-hit cannot prove there was no booking or release. The county’s operational record, a court record available through the proper channel, or a PADOC inquiry may still be needed. An expungement order can change official access, but it does not establish that every independently held image or old report has vanished. Record corrections should go to the office that maintains the disputed field, with the controlling order attached.
Find Perry County Released Inmates
Perry County offers no online prison roster and no recent-release archive. The search path must be name-specific and source-specific. Start with the most likely custodian, then reconcile the event with the court record. Preserve the displayed label and access date. Do not infer freedom merely because a name is missing.
- Search PA SAVIN through VINELink under Pennsylvania and confirm the reporting agency and identity.
- Call Perry County Prison for a recent event and ask whether the person remains there and whether the recorded change was release or transfer.
- Read the Perry County criminal docket in UJS for bail, disposition, sentence, commitment, and release-related orders.
- Check PADOC when a state sentence, transfer, or state parole could apply.
- Use BOP or ICE only when the case or transfer points to federal or immigration custody.
- Request the event-level record when a historical timestamp or durable proof is needed.
For a short same-day check, the Released Last 24 Hours page explains Perry’s no-feed fallback. It cannot supply a browsable county list because no authentic list exists.
Perry County PADOC Release Search
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections locator service covers state-sentenced inmates and parolees. It does not cover ordinary county-only detainees, and PADOC says the information updates daily. Search by DOC number when known. Otherwise, use last name and add a first name for a common surname. Confirm the DOC number, committing county, status, location, and sentence labels before using the result.
| Search or result field | Use and limit |
|---|---|
| Last name | Required name route; spelling variants can affect a hit |
| First name | Useful refinement for common surnames |
| DOC number | Strongest public search key when known |
| Committing county | Helps distinguish a Perry case from a namesake |
| Minimum sentence date | Ordinary parole eligibility, not promised release |
| Maximum sentence date | Calculated sentence endpoint subject to lawful change |
| Supervision status | May show physical release to state parole |
The official PADOC search form is shown below. Its current labels must be read exactly rather than renamed as a guaranteed projected date.
A parolee result can remain visible after the person leaves an SCI because the state still supervises that sentence. A fully discharged older record may require a PADOC records inquiry or the court docket.
Perry County Release Supervision
County probation, county parole, and state parole are separate. Perry County Probation operates under the Court of Common Pleas for local orders. The Pennsylvania Parole Board decides state parole, while PADOC performs field supervision. A person can be physically released and still be legally supervised, so the supervising office and the signed order matter more than a broad “released” label.
The local office publishes no person lookup or absconder list. For a county case, read the UJS sentence and contact Perry County Probation within lawful disclosure limits. For a state case, search both inmate and department-supervised modes in PADOC. County and state supervision records must remain distinct when checking discharge, violation, and absconder terms.
Can probation prove a prison release? No. Probation can be imposed without a prison term or after confinement. The docket and custodian record must show what happened in custody.
Perry County Release Reentry Support
The Perry County Literacy Council’s Community Reentry Project works with Perry County Prison and the faith community. It describes voluntary case management, mentoring or sponsorship, and continued access to community programs. That is a local support path after release, not a custody database and not evidence about any person’s status.
Reentry support and release verification serve different needs. First confirm the event through the prison, docket, PA SAVIN, or other correct custodian. Then use the community project when the released person wants help navigating services. Keeping those roles separate protects accuracy and dignity.
Perry County Work Release Status
Perry County assigns Work Release and House Arrest questions jointly to the correctional facility and County Probation. Neither label automatically means final discharge. Work release may allow a person to leave for approved activity and return while remaining committed to the prison. House arrest places the person in the community under court restrictions and electronic monitoring.
Ask for the signed order and identify the agency that still holds authority. Physical movement during the day is not the same as the custody term ending. The public prison page provides no local automatic good-time table or online projected release date, so sentence arithmetic should not be improvised from a docket headline.
Perry County Federal Release Checks
A county release to an ICE detainer is a transfer, not community return. ICE’s Online Detainee Locator can cover current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the last sixty days. Search with the A-number and country of birth or exact biographical details. A missing result is inconclusive, so the ERO route may still be needed.
For a federal sentence, the BOP Inmate Locator covers records from 1982 onward and can show “Released” or “Not in BOP custody.” Those labels are custody-specific. They do not exclude supervised release or a handoff to another agency. BOP Form BP-A714 is stronger because it distinguishes community release from a detaining-agency transfer and records arrival or reporting information.
The official federal locator appears below. Use it only when the legal case or custodian is federal.
A BOP release date does not establish release from Perry County Prison. Each agency’s record must be described on its own terms.
Perry County Release Location Changes
Perry County’s jail history reaches from an 1824 stone jail to a 1903 brick facility and the modern prison project begun in 1989. Late-1980s crowding sent overflow to Juniata and surrounding counties. That history reinforces a current search rule: the county connected to a case and the building that physically houses a person can differ.
The same issue remains visible in modern records. County audits and a 2026 medical procurement describe women booked through Perry but housed elsewhere. Search the reporting agency, destination facility, commitment order, and receiving custodian before concluding that a person left confinement. The official Perry County Prison page confirms the local institution but supplies no online release search.
Perry County Release Search Sources
Choose the source by custody system and by the question being asked. A current-status service can flag a change, while an event record explains it. Neither should be stretched beyond its stated scope.
| Source | Best use | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| PA SAVIN/VINELink | Named county or state custody event and alerts | Legal reason for release or transfer |
| Perry County Prison | Recent local custody and event-level confirmation | Another agency’s later custody |
| UJS Case Search | Bail, disposition, sentence, and court orders | Exact physical exit time |
| PADOC locator | State inmate or parole supervision status | County-only release |
| BOP Locator | Federal status and release date | Perry prison status or community return |
| ICE ODLS | Current or short-window immigration custody | Release when no result appears |
Record the access date, displayed wording, source agency, and the identity facts used. If sources conflict, ask the agency that controlled the transition for its event record rather than choosing whichever result says “released.”
Perry County Release Facility
Perry County Prison is the only physical detention facility identified in the county research. It holds people by court direction at custody levels ranging from work release through maximum. A person may leave for the community, PADOC, another county, treatment, federal custody, or ICE. PA SAVIN, the prison, the UJS docket, and a narrow records request provide the local confirmation chain.
No separate municipal jail, SCI, federal prison, or dedicated ICE detention center was found within Perry County. Those systems still matter when a docket or transfer points outside the county, but they are not local facility pages and should not be blended into the county prison record.
